Answers about the app

TravelSpace finds the trips hiding in your camera roll, turns each one into a journal, puts them all on a map, and helps you plan the next one. Each trip is a cover, a route, a day-by-day timeline, and the photographs in order.

No. There is no feed. Friends show up on a city page — who has been there, and who is going when you are — and on their profile, which they control. TravelSpace is your trips, not a stream of other people's weeks.

No. There is nothing to subscribe to and nothing to buy inside the app. If the App Store asks you to manage a subscription for TravelSpace, that charge is not ours — write to us with the date and we will help you sort it out.

Seventeen. The App Store rates the app 17+, and the birthday asked at sign-up uses the same figure in every country. An account that was made under an earlier rule stays. Signing back in never re-asks the birthday.

Open TravelSpace and choose Create account, or Apple or Google. You will be asked for a birthday, a name, a handle, and where you live. A phone number, Contacts, and the photo library come next. The phone number can be skipped. Contacts and photos can be turned off; the app will say what stops working before you leave the screen.

No. Sign in the same way you created the account. A password is only for the email path. If you later want one, the website can send a reset link to the address on the account — including an Apple private-relay address, if that is what Apple gave us.

On the log-in screen, ask for a new one. We email a link to www.travelspaceapp.com/reset.html. Set it there, twice. A new password is at least eight characters. The link opens in a browser, not in the app.

The email says a message was sent even when the address has no account, so the form cannot be used to find out who has one. If nothing arrives, check spam, then write to us from the address you signed up with.

Use the same door you used the first time: email and password, Apple, or Google. Apple and Google open a page and come back with a session; if that hop fails, try again on the same device after a moment. "Couldn't reach TravelSpace" means the phone could not talk to our servers — check the connection and try once more.

No. Skip is on that screen, with or without a code sent. A number lets people who already have yours find you, and a text can confirm it. Nothing later in the app is locked behind a verified number. Contact matching still works from the digits, whether a code was ever sent.

You → Edit profile. The handle is how friends find you. Home city is what the scan uses to decide that a stretch of photographs was a trip rather than a week at home. Changing it does not rewrite trips you have already saved.

You → Settings → Sign out. The way out of that dialog is Stay signed in. Signing out leaves your trips on our servers and on this phone; it does not delete the account.

The dates and places already written on a photograph are how the app finds a trip. It reads those on your phone. It does not look at the picture itself to decide what the trip was. The long form is the Privacy Policy.

Limited access means TravelSpace can only read the photographs you picked, so it can only find trips among those. Open the iPhone Settings app → TravelSpace → Photos and choose All Photos, or add the weeks you actually travelled. Then scan again from the Trips tab.

Yes. Every trip then has to be added by hand. The screen that reported the refusal said that, and offered Open Settings — iOS only asks once, so the switch after that lives in the iPhone Settings app, not in TravelSpace.

The scan needs photographs with a date, and it needs enough of them far enough from home, for long enough, to look like a trip rather than an afternoon. Common reasons a week does not appear:

• Those photographs have no location (the Camera location switch was off, or they were saved from a message).
• You only granted Limited Photos, and that week was not among the ones you picked.
• The stretch was close to the home city you gave us, so it was treated as home.
• It was a short stop the scan read as a layover, not a destination.
• You already dismissed that week in the scan, or it is still waiting on the review.

You can add a trip by hand from the Trips tab, and you can run the scan again. A photograph TravelSpace never saw cannot be reconstructed from the cloud — the library on this phone is the evidence.

Place names come from the coordinates on the photograph, then a catalog of cities, then Google Places. A wrong name is almost always a photograph whose coordinates belong to the airport, the hotel, or the next town over. Open the trip, open the day or the place, and rename it. Swipe a Places row to mark a layover or remove a city that should not be there.

A trip that is still happening can show up as it forms, once there are photographs to read. It will not look finished until you are home and the days have a beginning and an end. Save it when the week is over, or add the rest of the photographs from the trip page.

No. The scan runs on the phone.

A cover, the route, a day-by-day timeline, and the photographs in order. The title starts as the city names and you can change it. Several cities join with commas: London, Paris, New York.

Open it. Change the title. Pick a different cover. Open a day to see that day's photographs. Remove a photograph you do not want in the journal. Add photographs from the library. Invite friends if the trip is one you share.

No. Removing it takes it out of the journal. The original stays in your photo library.

A short stop that is not a destination — a change of planes, an hour in a city you did not stay in. It can still appear on the route and on the Places row if it has photographs. It does not count as a place you visited, and it does not fill the Atlas, unless you turn on Include layovers as visited cities in Settings. That switch is off when you start.

On the Trips tab, swipe the row to Delete. The dialog asks Delete this trip? Keep leaves the trip where it is. Deleting it removes TravelSpace's journal. It does not delete the photographs in your library.

Yes. Upcoming trips live on the Trips tab and on You. You can pick cities and dates, invite friends, and keep a briefing of the last time you were there and who among your friends has been. A plan with no dates yet is still an upcoming trip.

Places you have been, from the trips you saved. Pins, not routes. Zooming in goes from country to city to photographs. A filter can lock Cities, States and Countries on at every zoom. Auto is the default: countries far out, cities closer in.

The Atlas fills from saved trips, not from the raw camera roll. If the trip is not on the Trips tab, the city will not be on the map. A layover does not fill the Atlas unless you asked it to. A stay you later marked as a layover, or a place you swiped off the Places row, will drop off.

The same record at a finer scale: the Sagrada Família in April 2019, not only Barcelona. It is derived from the coordinates on your photographs against a catalog of sights. A filled mark means you stood there. A hollow mark means you did not. Nearly is the short list of places you walked past.

Places you want to go. They live on You, and friends can see a short version if you leave that section visible. They do not appear as pins on the Atlas map.

By your handle, or by a number they already have, or from Contacts if you allowed that step. You can skip Contacts and still add people by handle.

They need an account, and one of you has to add the other. If you skipped the phone number or they did, matching by number will not find you. If you denied Contacts, the app cannot look through the book. Search for their handle.

Their view of you is a version of your You tab, and the switches are yours: You → Settings → Viewable to friends. Identity and published photographs are always there. Hometown has its own hide. Your Atlas, Where I've been, upcoming trips, and bucket list each have a switch. Hide my trips from friends is the master over those four trip sections. The switches themselves are not shown to them — a hidden section simply is not there.

Open the trip → invite. You can add a friend who already has an account, or make a link. Opening the link signs them into TravelSpace and puts them on the trip. They can add photographs from their own library to a trip you share.

On their profile, or from Settings → Blocked. A block goes both ways. You can unblock from the same list.

It puts chosen photographs from a trip onto a city, where friends can see them. You pick the city and the photographs. Favourites are offered first.

Friends, on that city and on your profile. It is not a public web gallery and it is not an Explore page. You can take a photograph down from the same place you published it. A friend can report one. We review reports from the address on this page and from the in-app report.

Open You → Favorites, or the city you published to, and take it down. The original is still in your library and still on the trip journal unless you removed it there too.

Your account, the trips you save, the photographs you publish, and the profile you write. The numbered version of this answer is the Privacy Policy. The rules you agreed to are the Terms of Service.

Yes. Settings → Viewable to friends. Three of the trip sections start hidden. The bucket list and hometown start shown. Change any of them at any time.

Memories are scarce on purpose: about one a week, never more than four in a month. Things waiting on you — a friend request, an invite — are outside that ceiling, because someone is waiting for an answer. You choose the kinds in You → Settings → Notifications. Turning the iPhone permission off stops all of them.

Not now on the first ask does not permanently refuse. You can turn them on later from Settings → Notifications, which will send you back through the iPhone permission if it is still off.

You can create an account, sign in, and walk through a demonstration. A browser has no camera roll, so it cannot run the scan on your photographs. The journals, the Atlas, and publishing are on the iPhone app.

Open it on this site. If the link is old, ask for a new one from log in. Never send us a password in email.

You → Settings → Export my data. The file is your trips, your lists, and the words you wrote. Nothing is changed or removed while it builds.

You → Settings → Delete my account. The dialog asks again. Delete everything removes your profile, trips, friends, and everything TravelSpace has stored for you, on this device and on our servers. It cannot be undone. Keep my account leaves you where you were.

Deleting the account does not touch your photo library. Published photographs come down with the account. If you cannot reach Settings, write to info@doublethr33s.com from the address on the account and ask us to delete it.

No. Deleting the app from the phone leaves the account on our servers. Sign back in on a new install to pick up the trips, or delete the account from Settings before you go.

An iPhone running iOS 18 or later. The scan reads the photo library on that phone. A second iPhone signed into the same account will see the trips you saved; it will not see photographs that only exist in the other phone's library until you add them there.

The product is the iPhone app. An iPad may run it; the layout is built for a phone. There is no Mac app. The website is for an account and for these pages, not a second copy of the journals.

A build we have retired will say so at launch and point at the App Store. Until you update, that copy cannot be used.

Force-quit and open it again. If it happens on the same screen, shake the phone or use Settings → Report a bug and send the report. Say what you tapped. The report already includes the screen and a screenshot.

The journal points at a photograph in this phone's library. If the original was deleted from Photos, or never synced onto this device, TravelSpace cannot draw it. The trip is still there. Adding the photograph again from a device that still has it puts it back.
